I am the Braided Librarian, weaving together strands of langauge, linguistics, librarianship, reading, education, social justice, and more. I'm thinking of using this site as a blog/annotated bibliography to organize the reading and research I've been doing the last year and some about reading, in terms of what linguistics and science says about how kids learn to read and how that can help close achievement gaps.
I am a Minneapolitan with a Linguistics BA and a Masters in Library and Information Science, and have work experience in elementary schools in the library and as a reading tutor.
